Road Trip: Melbourne to Brisbane

Australia is huge, the distances are long. We downloaded the app WikiCamps and found some random campsites as we headed north from Melbourne. Our favourite was the Bunadelah Bowls Club! Grey Nomads and fellow campers adopted us, fed us and shared their tips! Considering we only brought our camping stuff on the second night, we needed all the help we could get!

Although we arrived on the first day of school holidays, we easily found a campsite in Byron Bay. Chilling out in this relaxed, inviting beach town re-energised us after our busy time in Melbourne.

Lamington National Park in southern Queensland surprised us with cold weather and winds at night. During the crisp, sunny days we walked the trails searching for birds, wallaroos and waterfalls.

We spent two nights in the local area of the Gold Coast– far different from Surfers Paradise, there were horses in the street! We entered Surfers only to visit our friends: breakfast, mini golf and visit the Marriott. The Marriott has an artificial reef with fish, including clown trigger fish!
